Lucas Bjerregaard is the winner of the European Amateur Championship 2010

Danish Lucas Bjerregaard had best nerves and took the golden medal in front of his competitors. He took the win with the total score of  -15 and a new course record, 64, on his third round. Italian Andrea Pavan was second (-14) and Tommy Fleetwood of England third with the same result.

“I was really nervous today. I was lucky to have our captain as my caddie, he helped me to calm down”, the winner told after the very exciting final round.

Only 18 years old (19 in a week) golfer had some problems on the 13th hole. Luckily Pavan and Fleetwood had difficulties as well. The Par 3 ended in double bogeys for them both. “I managed to improve my game again. This title means lot to me as it is my best achievement so far. Linna Golf is an excellent course, maybe the best I have played this year”, Bjerregaard gave thanks to the arrangements and conditions.

 A good day for the Finns

The best Finnish player (28th) today was Tapio Pulkkanen (-2). With four birdies and one bogey Pulkkanen played a round of 69. “I was satisfied with my game today but overall I am not pleased with my result. My target was to be one of the top 10 players”, Pulkkanen told and starts to prepare for next week’s Erkko Trouphy in Tali.

 All Finnish players had a pretty good day on the final round. Henri Satama and Mikael Salminen ended up on the 33rd place, Kalle Samooja was 46th.
