11 Finns started the competition and four out of them were still on the course on the final day. “I think six of the eleven actually had chances to succeed in this championship. Four of them played on the final round and two were disappointed.

Antti Peltoniemi the president of the Finnish Golf union and President of the EGA has been pleased with how well the arrangements have succeeded so far. “I have been following about 20 different European Championships and I need to say that everything has been going perfectly.” Unfortunately the Finnish players have not quite reached the top of the result list.

Lucas Bjerregaard was the hottest name after third round in International European Amateur Championship at Linna Golf. Celebrating his 19th birthday next week Dane Lucas Bjerregaard got his birthday presents early when he shot a new course record 64, 8-under par.

Cutting 10 strokes off from his first round score helped Norwegian Espen Kofstad lower his score from 75 to 65, which equals the course record of Linna Golf. Happy Norwegian was willingly praising the golf course.

After the first half of players had finished the first round Jesper Kennegård from Sweden was alone in the lead. The swede known for his one handed putting style scored 67, five under par. The weather conditions didn’t exactly get easier, but Johann Lopez-Lazaro of France managed to catch up to the Swede. The Frenchman started at 12.40 and ended up as the highest ranked name on the scoreboard sharing the lead with Kennegård.

Sun, clouds, stormy winds and rain... The course of Linna Golf and the 144 players on it have been experiencing almost all imaginable weather conditions today. Wind got very heavy in the afternoon, but luckily the thunder storms rageing around Finland haven't found their way to the course yet.

Due to some players not being able to attend the championship, three more young finns got a chance to compete at the European Amateur 2010. The lucky guys turned out to be Tuomas Salminen, Henri Pyykölä and Juho Vesanen. This added the total number of finnish participants to 11.

During the past two days the top European amateur players have travelled towards the Finnish Vanajanlinna Golf & Country Club. The first practice round has now been played and excitement is building rapidly. The Finnish eight man team as well as the Linna Golf course are ready to challenge the top Europeans.

Two players representing Finland in the European Amateur, Kalle Samooja and Tapio Pulkkanen got the chance to face two professional golfers, Mikko Ilonen of Finland and Johan Edfors of Sweden on the Vanajanlinna course, which is the host for this year's tournament.

As the European Amateur 2010 approaches at high speed, the European Golf Association (EGA) has published the official starting list and reserve list for the competition.

Four players out of the Team Finland 2010 group that was aiming for the championship made their way to the competition according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking. As the host country for the competition Finland also gets to name four other players to participate in the European Amateur.
